Unmanned Drone Prototyping Course

I participated in a 9-week course to get hands-on and learn how to design, build, and test drones. It was great opportunity to work on groups at the mix.

Drone Kit

I built a functional UAV from a kit by putting together the frame, attaching the motors and ESCs, and making sure everything was tightened properly to avoid any problems during flight. I also hand-soldered the power and signal wires between the flight controllers, receivers, and servos to make sure the connections were good and reliable.

ArduPilot Software Commands

In a group setting, we configured our UAV using ArduPilot, including:

- Setting up the frame and calibrating motors for stability.
- Establishing reliable RC links.
- Calibrating servos for precise control.
- Programming flight modes (Stabilize, AltHold, Autonomous).

We tested and refined the drone through bench tests, indoor flights, and outdoor trials for reliability.
